The age of information has definitely increased many people’s confidence in taking tasks that are usually just left to the pros. There are instructions for everything now, and basically, every task you need to be guided on has a demo video on a popular social media sharing site.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with trying to do things yourself. Easy weekend decorating projects, for example, can yield fulfilling results. A DIY makeup look popularized by a makeup guru can be completely successful as well, especially if you like makeup to begin with.
But if you’re throwing a party and you’re thinking of taking the DIY route for the photo booth, you may want to rethink this idea. Why?
- Who will you put in charge of the photo booth?
If you’re not going to be in charge of the DIY photo booth, who then?
For sure, other members of your family would rather just enjoy the party. With nobody else to assign for the booth, you’ll have to step up. Before you do though, here’s something to consider –DIY parties often prove to be extremely stressful.
Also, a DIY photo booth will leave you no time to actually do anything else. Count on all your guests to line up for the photo booth, and don’t think that the line will end at some point. It won’t.
- Putting up instructions so guests can take care of their photos? This doesn’t help much.
This is the case especially if the guests are young children. Even if their comprehension level is good, you will find yourself needing to explain how they should go about the process. This is to the point that you’re demonstrating every time there’s a group that wants to have a picture taken.
- Technical difficulties are likely to happen.
Using a cute photo app like Purikura will definitely entice your party guests, especially with all the editing features it has. It may work slowly at times, though, and if you’re using it with your internet connection, that’s going to be a problem as well. You will have to deal with the technical difficulties yourself. It’s going to be tiring.
- Photo booth rental is affordable.
If there are other things that you need to take care of for the party, isn’t photo booth rental the more practical option? You won’t have to worry about it because the setup is taken care of. From the actual booth to the props and of course, all the equipment for taking pretty pictures and producing high quality printed images– the pros will take care of them all.
Perhaps the best thing about this option is that everybody will just get a better overall experience.
You think people won’t be able to tell the difference between DIY and the real thing delivered by actual professional services, but they will once they’ve experienced both. You too will be able to tell. The DIY route may be motivated by love and the need to save some money, but it’s going to be tiring. Meanwhile, photo booth rental may cost you, but you’ll actually be able to enjoy the event or at least better take care of the other needs of the party.
And most importantly, everyone will have great photographs to take home as keepsakes from your party!
